Stone Properties
Materials We Use
Stringing Wire: We use professional, platinum quality beading wire. Platinum quality wire consists of 49 strands of stainless steel coated in nylon for the best strength to flexibility ratio.
Gold-Filled Wire: 14/20 (1/20th 14Karat) gold-filled, or gold overlay, is made by heat and pressure bonding a thin layer of gold to a brass core. The 1/20 notation refers to the ratio of the 14 Karat gold layer to the brass layer by weight, which is 5%.
It is a superior product to gold plate as it contains much more gold and will not flake or peel off when bent, hammered or heated and requires the same care as any precious metal. We can do special orders in 14k or 18K solid gold wire upon request.
Sterling Silver: All clasps, findings and silver beads are .925 Sterling silver. .925 sterling silver is the traditional standard for silver. It is called .925 because it is an alloy that is 925 parts silver out of 1000. It is allowed for the other 75 parts to be other metals (usually copper) to enhance its strength, because pure silver is very soft and is not structurally strong enough for many jewelry applications. .925 sterling silver has both the fine glow of silver and the durability for everyday wear.
Beads: We use quality precious and semi-precious stone beads, along with corals, pearls, fossils, crystal, and vintage glass. Occasionally we will use artisan glass beads bought from specialty bead makers to add to our creations. Each item is described completely on an individually hand-written card to accompany your purchase so you can keep it as a reference with your jewelry.
Argentium Silver: The silver of the 21st century – stays bright and beautiful, the way silver was meant to be. Germanium replaces the copper in this silver to make it tarnish resistant and firescale free. Argentium is .925 silver or higher and qualifies to carry that trademark.
